Description: This is Conflict Libraries Number 604 – The Surface Raider “Since early April of 1940, when the Nazi hordes first swept into Scandinavia by air and sea. The rocky fjord – scattered coast of Norway had sheltered the German surface raiders which threatened the shipping convoys sailing to and from the beleaguered British isles. Upon the long-range reconnaissance and strike aircraft of coastal command, R.A.F., fell the task of keeping watch on the raiders and smashing the supply ships which crept along the coasts of Western Europe.
